2D vs 3D ANIMATIONS

2D Animation

Vector-based (composed of lines and curves)
Illustration (simple to detail flat drawing with either pencil on paper, or digital)
Relies on artistic skill (Art fundamentals, and anatomy)
Done by drawing the characters, scene elements, and backgrounds
Manipulating individual images
Combining music & sound after the animation is finalized in post-production

3D Animation

Uses keyframes, splines, or motion capture data to create and manipulate 3D models

Done by creating models, rigs, lighting, and textures
Manipulating objects, and sometimes cameras in a 3D environment
Combining music & sound is done during and after production
